Shooting at Howe Park Sends Multiple Gunshot Victims in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood

Sacramento authorities are probing a shooting incident that occurred on April 18 2026 at Howe Community Park at the moment authorities were breaking up an unlawful assembly of several hundred people.

How It Started

Law enforcement first arrived at the Arden-Arcade park around half past six in the evening after learning of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Not long after, a second call came in about a possible physical fight taking place near the park.

A law enforcement helicopter searched from above but reported no active disturbance. Nevertheless, authorities discovered that a massive group had come together at the location without any permit or approval.

How the Shooting Unfolded

Responding units moved to clear the area by surrounding the park and using their vehicle PA systems directing the crowd to vacate the area. Roughly 15 minutes were provided for individuals to vacate.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 gunshots were fired. The sudden gunfire sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Responding personnel swiftly started finding those who had been shot.

Those Who Were Hit

Altogether, four gunshot victims were found to have been shot. The shooting victims — a group of one female and three male victims each apparently in their 20s — were transported to area medical facilities. Emergency physicians confirmed that two victims were in serious condition, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, all four were in stable condition.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District assisted at the location and assisted with medical triage the four victims before they were taken to the hospital.

What Investigators Found

The main crime scene was believed to have happened near the Cottage Way corridor adjacent to the Home Depot store on the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators located additional shell casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Projectile impacts were identified in the iron perimeter fence surrounding the Home Depot. The physical evidence showed that at least one of the shooters had been sending rounds south from the Cottage Way area aimed at the Home Depot. That Home Depot location was locked down during the incident. Crime scene personnel worked tirelessly late into the evening.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Reports confirmed via scanner audio confirmed that a Kia more info vehicle was pulled over in Solano County. Four individuals were held for questioning. Sheriff's units were sent to retrieve the detainees to collect the individuals for investigation. Footage analyzed by investigators revealed that two shooters had been involved.
